Your cloud backup such as Google Drive, Dropbox and if you’re using Office 365, OneDrive is NOT enough to keep your files safe and secure any longer! Cloud backup will help save your files when your computer crashes, BUT it won’t help if many of the modern viruses infect your computer such as the Ransomware Encryption Virus.
What If My Computer is Infected by a Computer Virus Such as The Ransomware Encryption Virus?
Florida City and at least two other city governments found out computer attacks don’t just happen to someone else. Florida city paid a ransom of $600,000 in Bitcoins to hackers to get their government files released. When your computer is infected with a computer virus such as the ransomware encryption virus, it encrypts all your files with military grade encryption. The hacker’s program then displays a note usually stating your computer’s security is so bad you must pay the hacker to have your files released. This computer virus, due to its military grade encryption is not reversible.
I’m Fine I Have Dropbox. If I Get a Computer Virus I’ll Just Run My Antivirus Software Then Copy My Files and Photos From Dropbox
WRONG! As an in home and onsite computer virus removal specialist here in Honolulu Hawaii covering all of Oahu. I am aware of this outdated, false sense of security.Problem 1: Modern computer viruses including the ransomware encryption virus blows right through antivirus software by disguising itself as normal software. Antivirus software ONLY helps with the more traditional types of computer viruses.
Problem 2: Your cloud backup such as Google Drive (now called Backup and Sync), Dropbox and OneDrive detect the encryption or just plain infection of your computer files and photos as a change. It then syncs into your cloud storage infecting what may be (unless your my computer client) your only backup!
Sorry to burst your bubble, but welcome to the real world where you must protect your computer files and photos a little bit better.
